Haven't seen a Rutenbur marine engine or photo of one. Notes say they offered a 32 page catalog In 1912. * |

Richard: Many thxx for taking the time and trouble to post the Rutenber items. They advertised often in the trade press such as Cycle & Auto'm'ble Trade Jnl and such; there're 13 or so Rutenber ads on EBay as well as several online-I'd post a couple with engine illus but I've never learned how (probably a good thing--I'd clutter up everyone's forums!). Rutenber reportedly built first US 1cyl and first US 4cyl inline; he sold his interest in 1912 (turned to elec appliances very successfully)the Western Motors name being changed back to Rutenber Motor Co. Quality may've declined; a batch of engines exported to AU in the early 20s for the Australian Six car all had to be rebuilt. Does the 1912 catalog still list the 4Cyl 43/4x5?? It may be the "U" engine mentioned above. |
