i have a crysler crown marine 6 cylinder model m-27-l-5360s can anyone help with history? It has a transmission and is complete and maybe for sale also |

Crowns were used in military landing craft and a lot of popular recreational boats in their heyday. Chrysler started making them in the late 30s, I think. My 1936 Wheeler had a pair of them. The marine versions came with bronze impellers that could better deal with the sand when used in landing craft. Their big problem was/is their updraft carburetors which are a gigantic PITA. There used to be an outfit named Marzak Marine in Lindenhurst, NY that had a warehouse full of engines and parts for these. They must be long gone but all those parts should still be available somewhere. Except for those damned carbs, they were very reliable workhorses. |
