This is a 1/4 scale model of a Gar Wood 500 HP TS-26 Liberty Marine conversion with Miller carburetors. Made from scratch like my Hisso's. The engine is a bit over 22" long, 14" high and 9" wide. The model weighs slightly over 12 lbs. not counting the oak stand. http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/DSCN3351.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/DSCN3354.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/DSCN3359.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/DSCN3362.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/DSCN3366.jpg |

Here are the Hisso's. I’m working on the accessory drive right now. It has a gear box with the generator, water pump and dual distributors. I was going to have to do it from nothing but photos until a sympathetic engine restorer supplied me with dimensions of most of the parts. http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/HISSO-1.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/HISSO-2.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/HISSO-3.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/2011-07-05_08-32-58_196.jpg http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad77/nahma/2011-07-05_13-20-25_567.jpg |

Any chance you are using CAD generated solid models and 3D printing? |

Nope, drawn, carved, molded, cast, painted and assembled by hand. |

Having worked on both a TS-26 and Hissos, I am blown away at the accuracy! What TS-26 did you use for plans etc? The only one I know of is in a Baby Gar on Tahoe. Nice job! Cheers, Lew |

Thank you very much! I was originally only going to do the aircraft version for a 7’ model of “Miss Syracuse”. Then I started to get interest from “Baby Gar” owners and fans. The only Gar Wood marine conversion that I could find that was not in a boat was the one at the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton NY. My friend and I took about 800 digital photos all with a tape measure for reference. With those and original WWI Army Air Corps and RAF manuals I reversed engineered the marine parts. At the time I did not know that the one with the Miller carbs was so rare. I have two completed Gar Wood Liberties if you know of someone that can’t live without one. |

I’ve made some progress on my Capitol Marine converted Hispano-Suiza. The “accessory drive” is complete. It was a Capitol gearbox that replaced the stock aircraft piece that the magnetos mounted on. It drove the generator, water pump and two distributors. I’ve also finished the molds for the stock aircraft part. Working on the marine exhaust manifolds next. I’ve included links to the Hisso album and the original build photos as well. The standard “I wasn’t expecting viewers so I’m sorry my work bench is such a mess” statement applies.
