Every day I host a very dull meeting at work. A while back I started to urge the team to get through the work part by closing with a “BOAT OF THE WEEK” discussion. We are currently awestruck by the stunning Miss D 3 built by Mike Michaud. I have spent countless hours and looked at thousands of power plants and I am stumped. Could you give me at least a clue on the background of that fabulous engine. |

The engine is a VERY clever and ingenious use of a small block(possibly big block but doubted based on photos)Chevy V-8. The fake cylinders are affixed to the top of the heads where the rocker covers would be. Note that the exhaust header / pipes are bolted directly to the Chevy exhaust ports. It is a beautiful thing for what he is doing! Cheers, Lew "The West Coast Sterling guy" |

Maybe not the small block, maybe the 4.3 six cyl built from the smallblock? Just my opinions Bluecometk |

Yup my guess is also 2 4.3 V6 blocks and 4 heads. The heads aren't V8 as the center 2 exhaust ports on a V8 are right next to each other. These exhaust ports are all spaced out from each other. Really nice work and I bet is sounds good too! |

GMC made an industrial V-12 in the 1960s. More recently they made Falconer V-12s by joining a pair of 350s with the front 2 Cylinders missing off one and the rear 2 missing off the other. Whatever the base engine a lot of Mock-Up was added. |

The 2 V-6 engines makes most sense after looking closer. It is GM by the timing covers. And of course the 6 cyl distributor in one of the shots. Regardless of what it is, if it runs, it is cool! |
