I am working on a 5.5hp Ferro (circa 1910) It had a dreadfully stuck piston. I heard about a product called EVAPO-RUST. So I got some. Soaked the piston for two days in this stuff. You could see where the Evapo-Rust had eaten the rust bond between the cylinder wall and piston. The Evapo-Rust penetrated the areas that had soaked for two days. I took the piston to our local machine shop in Valdez, AK, and we proceeded to press the piston out with no trouble. This stuff cleans cast iron to almost new without severely attacking the iron. I soaked the head and it looks almost new. If you need to clean an old engine, unstick/free a piston, clean small parts, get Evapo-Rust. EVAPORUST.COM. What a neat product. The Ferro is coming now, thanks to EVAPO-RUST. Randy Ridderbush |
