Aloha, I have a Brooks/Dubrie 4HP, 2/3 port engine of estimated 1906/1907 vintage. The inlet port in the block is 3/4 NPT and I have a 1 1/4 NPT Schebler model D carb. Is this carb too big for use on this engine? Expected usage is no-load demo, not driving a prop. Assuming it is too large from a airflow velocity/atomization viewpoint, anybody interested in trading for a smaller Shebler or Kreis? Mahalo, Chuck |

It is way oversized, on a slow idleing show motor it's even more critical. I have a new old stock 3/4" Schebler if you an't find one. |

JB in a 2/3 port motor is it necessary to use a check valve on the inlet port. Seems to me it wold be required. I don't ever remembering seeing a 2/3 port that didn't also have an inlet check. Any thoughts. Dick |

Aloha Guys, Thanks for the inputs. I was pretty sure that the big carb wasn't a good idea, but its nice to have second opinions and/or experience. JB, I'll probably email you directly sometime in the next few days re the possibilities on your NOS Schebler. And, as an aside, I'd appreciate any comments on the engine, whose pictures are posted on the old "Brooks Engine" thread. Andrews, Ernie, Richard especially, based on your prior contributions to that thread. I'd also asked a few questions, one was the check valve, which I'm pretty sure is needed on the 2/3 port. I was really glad to see the thread on off the shelf check valves from January 2006. Maholo, Chuck |
