For my senior design project, my team and I are fulling restoring a Lockwood Ash marine engine. The plaque on the engine is missing so we're not sure of the model or the Type. The horsepower is 2 1/2. If there's anyone who can help identify the model of the engine, then that would be very helpful. I'm probably gonna upload our progress onto this site since this is very cool. |

Reynaldo, Looks like you have a model 24. You will need a 3/4 inch Schrebler carburetor, a couple grease cups, water drain valve, timer gear cover, a tag, and maybe some timer parts. All of which should be available. Welcome to the hobby! Jim |

Thank you Jim! We actually have a couple of parts in a separate box, but I will talk about all you have mentioned with the team. -Reynaldo |

Thank you Jamie, can I send my mailing address to the email linked to your account? Jim if you have any additional information or documents about the model 24, 2 1/2 hp LA engine then that would be a big help to me and my team. Also does anyone have any plans to a model 24, 2 1/2 hp LA engine? My team and I are really needing something like that to help with manufacturing our own parts or to narrow down which parts are missing with our engine. We're also needing a manual of any kind so we know what kind of fuel it takes. |

The fuel is ordinary gasoline mixed with 2 cycle oil in a 20:1 to 25:1 ratio. Once you get it rebuilt, you might be wise to run it initially with the richer ratio ( 20:1) . You could probably use a 1 in Schebler Model D carb. These are much easier to find and restore. You will also be wise to use a modern version of the buzz coil. The information (inlcuding the schematic diagram) can be found on this web site under the Timers/Magneto/Ignition section. I don't think there were manuals made for this engine - there may be some marketing brochures. There's lots of help on this web site and a lot of information and descriptions of restoration projects going back more the 20 years - use the SEARCH function. You'll love it the first time the engine fires . . miro . . . . .PS learn how to upload your pictures - it's not quite the same as many other web sites |
