Saw this at the Dublin gathering. Nice little Gray (stuck unfortunately) with an unusual to me check valve that has a threaded hole in the side. What might this be for? How would the check valve work? Thanks, Dick

I would assume that someone had an oiler on it there. As long as it was on the carb side of the check valve it should work OK. The engine is a Gray Mississippi Sand Sucker with the piston water pump. Search for that and there is some info on OME someplace. Hope this helps Ernie |

Thanks Ernie - that makes sense; I should have thought of that. Would this engine necessarily have needed an oiler in the fuel inlet? |

Not really as it ran on pre-mix. However many of the old timers still wanted an oiler no matter what. |
