I picked up this little Gray Motor Co. marine engine. Where can we find the serial number on the Grays? By the serial number can we tell the year it was built. Thanks! Denis Rouleau

* Clean the face of the small raised boss on the cylinder directly behind the carb intake elbow ! If no number there you may find it very obscurely stamped in the face of the outer flywheel ring ?? http://www.oldmarineengine.com/history/Gray/gray_serial.html * |

The serial number is hard to read but I'm fairly sure it is 139233. Above the numbers there seems to be an "S" stamped there. If the number is correct does it make this Gray as 1909 or 1919? Denis Rouleau

* The S engines had a mechanical oiler, the rear crankshaft flange on this engine is upside down, the oiler mounted on top of it ! Gib key flywheel pre 1911. this engine is 1909 * |
