After years of frustration with my Dispro D-1, I started monkeying around with it again. Thanks to Dick Alcock as he has been a huge motivator and resource in this. Long story short, I have it running. The problem that I'm experiencing is it has never run in the water (although to be fair I did get it running twice in the water this weekend). I can actually see that the prop shaft and drive shaft are not in alignment when the boat is in the water. Is there a process to align them? I'm at the point of removing the bolts and muscling it around until things fit well. The process seems like magic or sheer luck to me. Is there a better way? |

Although it is a bit tough to see, the usual process is to take the bolts holding the hub to the driveshaft out, and get a rough alignment. Then adjust the engine mounting until the space or gap between the hubs is even top-bottom-side-side. It's a fussy process and needs zen like patience, but worth it. Should be within about 10 thou I made sure there was good lighting and I used magnifiers over my regular glasses so that I could see well. miro |

...and from what I am seeing, this should be done with the boat in the water, correct? Or can the rough alignment be done on shore, and the final adjustment be done in the water? |
