Hi, Everybody! I'm new to the site, this is the first post. I just bought my first old inboard and hope yall can help. so i have some questions like. what spark plugs to use, and what about the ingition? Will a buzz box work and how long will a battery last. I will be needing a Water pump and the ring that drives it. I have some pics but they seem to be to large to post.

Spark plugs are Ford model T, 1/2" pipe thread. Autolite 3095, Champion 25. Model T buzz coils are fine, just not water proof. I have the castings for the pump and strap, Bob Legnon probably has some machined if you need them finished. We are having our spring get together next week, people coming in meet and greet at my shop on Thursday the 22nd, Friday we head south and tour shops and points of interest, Saturday we go the Northern route, Sunday we go to my camp at Belle River. You are more than welcome to join us if you can make it. |

JB, Thanks for the invite. I can make it Friday and maybe Saturday. What time do yall get started? I'm interested in either option on the pump.
I'm in the process of tearing it down for inspection and cleaning. So far I'm looking at some stuck rings, a slightly scored piston, Carbon deposits, dirt dobber nest on the exhaust side. a bent needle valve on the carb. a broken off primer cup. and a bearing that is a little loose. |

Once you have the engine in fine fettle, the next thing is to put it in a boat - oops - bateau

Miro, I see we think alike. As a kid I would see some of the putt putt's around Bayou Gauche and Des Allemands and always wanted one. I just didn't know how to make it happen. So when the engine came up on Craigslist I knew another boat was in my future.

We generally try to leave my shop in Donaldsonville about 7 AM Friday, head for Jim Parrott's place in Houma for 8 AM or so. Saturday we leave about 7:30 heading for David Prejean's to get there about 8. |

For your ignition - I recently developed a small kit with the hard to get parts and all you have to do is connect ordinary 12V automotive ignition coil, a 12 V battery , your spark plug and your timer. I know that you'll be able to do that.
I'll see if I can get 2 of these kits for you, past the ICE fellows at the Cda / US border for you.

Thanks Miro. The kits will save me some time as i won't have to guess at the set up. I will settle up with you this coming weekend. Hope your successful. You could always mail it.
I will see you guys on Friday but will not be able to make the Saturday or Sunday outings. I have a friend coming in from Juneau Ak on Saturday. We will be cleaning out his storage building as he is moving to Florida where it warm.
