I was waiting for a response like that. I didn't have time to get any pictures until now. Here are a couple, it is rough shape, missing the carb and someone mounted a distributor instead of the original timer. Hoping for some pictures of other ones to compare to see what everything should look like. Was also wondering about the year of MFG. I really don't know too much about old marine engines, I'm more into hit and miss engines so any information would be awesome.

Looks like a nice engine with original paint.
I have one also. My pot metal bevel gears have deteriorated, and need replacing.

Jim - send me some pictures of the gears with some dimensions and I may be able to reverse engineer them and have some replacement gears made for you. |

I got the replacement ones on Dick Day's engine from Boston Gear.
However that was about 20 years ago and I don't remember the specs other than they were stock gears. |

Bob and Ernie,
Pics of my Waterman gears,
Flywheel gear:
31 Teeth
3.460 OD
.530 Height
.680 Height with spacer
.430 Tooth face width
1.250 Bore
Timer side:
1.268 Height
.375 Bore
All measurements are approximate due to deterioration.
I will try to make some, if close replacements are not available. Have been reading up on it a little, and still stumped on few steps in the process but should be able to wing it.

Jim - I just looked through my Boston Gear catalogs and could not find anything that looked like those bevel gears. Why not put them into a box and send them to me and let me see what can be done to replicate them? |

I just received some gear cutters in the mail this week and I think they will work fine. I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll keep you posted when I get started.

Thanks Jim , could you take a good picture of the carburetor as well?
Bob, we might be looking at getting a new set of gears for ours as well. We have an idea of a guy that might be able to make them, but if not I might be interested you trying to make some if your still up for it. |

Th2oman,
If you look at Keith and Dicks engines on the above link, you will see they have 1' Schebler D type carburetors. Mine had an Acorn carburetor that looks similar, with a integral check valve, probably not the original for my engine. I believe these are 3 port engines and if so do not need a check valve. Schebler's are easy to find and would be a good match for it. A right hand Lunkenheimer would also be a good fit.
