I'd like to 'beautify' this engine a bit. Any tips on removing the copper shells & 'body & fender' work to smooth the shells?

I've removed several, made a tool to help. The ring at the bottom has to be removed, some tap them off, others heat them, I cut most of the way through with a Dremel, broke it, re welded it. You can heat it and drop it on when replacing it. I think the bushing-retainer at the top of the cylinder is 1" 18tpi. I threaded a 6" piece of shaft to screw in place of the bushing. A 4" piece of 1" heater hose was slipped over and pushed against the cylinder, clamped with a hose clamp. Remove the primer cup and use a hose clamp to clamp a piece of rubber over the hole, block the water pump inlet. Connect a garden hose to the water outlet and the cylinder should rise off. |

Yes, Dick I got them. Great pictures! Will be very helpful. Sorry that you didn't receive my 'thank-you.' Email is not 100% dependable; is it?! Thanks again. wayne |
