I think I have it someplace but cant find it, and search came up dry except for the cool Palmer plant pics in a thread from EXACTLY ten years ago, Oct 2006...

The engine manual calls for SAE30 in crankcase, I assume nondetergent to keep the oil from recirculating any grit(?).

Just not sure about the transmission.

Thanks

The SAE 30 non-detergent SB oil can which is oddly sitting on my computer desk (?) says "light duty gear boxes, general oiling and pre-1940 Engines" But I would hope for someone who actually knows something to chime it.

Looking forward to seeing everything back together but do not be afraid to let the paint cure before marring it with the bolts.

After a day of crummy 1970s OB aluminum castings and aggravating needle bearings I am super jealous of your Iron and common sense. Enjoy.

Thanks guys. I saw online just now that TSC (Tractor Supply) has it for $2.59/qt and a 5gal pail is $44. Interesting that its like $30 a QUART on Amazon.com.

Also, I wondered about a brief run with detergent oil then change that out would clean any remaining particulates in the engine and trans, or is that thinkin too much?
