* Jim Beeler's Engine Photos 1908 ad File photos This company requires a lot more research, obviously one of the early Califonia engine makers ad above 1908 has them in Alameda, By 1913 they were in Oakland, had a branch in Seattle and branch (or separate Co.) in Vancouver British Columbia. by 1913 they mfgrd large marine engines and gas producer engs.J.H. Hanson and Company took over the plant and tooling 1917 and manufactuered the Scandia marine engines. * |

Hi, Folks, I'm just an occasional visitor but thanks so much for the opportunity to view a Gorham marine engine. Here's info on the company. It's a missing info on the Wikipedia article, but Mr. Gorham developed and patented the centrifugal water pump setup for fire engines with Seagrave. He had many other US patents (mostly on marine engines) before moving to Japan, i.e, he was a bonafide top rate American engineer/business owner back in the old day. He also brought his aero-engine to Japan after he lost a US government bid on it over the famed Liberty engine. Japan's heavy industry was very fortunate having him under her wing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Gorham_(engineer) Japan} |
