Third type of marine propulsion. Inboard, outboard, now the overboard motor. Harry(?) Miller of Miller racing engines supposedly built a four cylinder in this configuration, but it never went past a prototype (or a pssing fancy with a drawing) |

I have always thought that this configuration never got it's due. Puts the weight where it should be (low), removes the cooling system, reduces shaft lengths etc. I guess there are some challenges with moving intake mixture and spark? Some other challenges with making adjustments while under way? Guess you also need to have a pretty high level of confidence in ALL your gaskets. OK just talked myself out of admiration LOL. |
