Roger DiRuscio has sent me the two timing gears from his Waterman K2 engine. They are Zamac die castings and have self destructed. One is in four pieces but the second is just a lump with a hole in the middle. I think I have enuf info to reverse engineer them but I wonder if anyone else has a similar problem. One question I have relates to the pinion gear mounted on the back of the flywheel. It has four mounting holes for #8 hex socket screws and the holes DO NOT seem to be on the same bolt circle and they DO NOT seem to be uniformly spaced at 90 degrees. Could someone please speak to that anomaly? Since these gears drive the timer and are therefore lightly loaded I may decide to have them 3D printed from a fiber reinforced polymer rather than have them cut from steel blanks. Making more that one set would be easy to do if there is anyone else that might need them. Thanks Bob |

Bob I believe the two smaller holes are for pins and the tapped holes were for philiister head screws. Dick

AH - the plot thickens: that flywheel is different from Roger's. I assume that the key locks the flywheel to the crankshaft but does not engage the pinion gear bore. See the pictures for the different design.
