Hello,
I have a universal blue jacket twin that Im working on. The engine is set up for hand start only and all of the other examples Ive seen were the later ones that had starters and generators. It has a Splitdorf Model C magneto that is in excellent shape. The issue I'm having is I believe the magneto is the wrong direction for the application. The impulse trip only works in the opposite direction that the motors turns, this obviously won't be an issue once the motor is running and I may have to set it up for battery start. I just want to make sure Im not missing anything as I haven't ever messed with a mag that had the trip mechanism. I have verified motor direction with the head off so I don't think that it the issue.
Also is there any info on timing these? On the coupling of the magneto it says 35deg RH. I assume that means the direction is right hand but not totally sure what the 35deg part is explaining. Thanks a lot for the help. Jess

Maybe somebody can tell me if I can reverse the direction of the coupling? I started taking it apart last night but had to build a small puller to pull the coupling and that's as far as I got. Hopefully tonight I will have time to finish the puller, from what I can see it doesn't look like I will be able to.
