Purchased this little 2hp Detroit fuel injected engine from another collector a couple month's ago. Put it on a temporary stand added the muffler and put a different fuel pump arm on it. The engine has very little wear.

Johnny,

That is a very nice example. I was trying to buy it also but you beat me to it due to email issues.

I think you meant to say water pump arm instead of fuel pump.

How about posting a video of it running?

Jim

Jim,

Sorry you didn't get the engine but I guess I was on the other end of the boat this time, however I have been on both ends before. You are correct I meant to say water pump arm. After purchasing this engine it was delivered to me at the Coolsprings show in PA. Walking around at the show one of the first things I came across was a Detroit water pump arm the exact size I needed. I couldn't believe my luck. Then a few minutes later I found the cast iron marine muffler for it. What are the chances of finding those two parts much less at the same show. That was my lucky day for sure.

Before I run it I'm going to wash it down with diesel or kerosene and then decide if I'm going to leave it as is or paint it. Need to put new cork gaskets in the oiler. Change out old cork float with new Nitrophil float. Setup a fuel tank and buzz coil.

Johnny,

Sounds like it was meant to be, glad it went to a good home. I would clean, oil, grease, swap out the galvanized pipe fittings for old rusty ones, or black fittings and leave the rest as is. Take it to shows run it and show it off. If you could find an old boat with equal patina that would be ideal.

Jim
