* Any one know the I.D of this engine ? Seems to have the output shaft drop down from the crankshaft level ? * |

First I've seen Richard, looks like the cam and output shaft share the same drive gear. I wonder if it's a reduction, this wasn't really necessary until the high speed engines came around. This engine looks like it has an atmospheric intake, I guess 1000rpm or so max. One other thought is that if it replaced a steam engine it may have had a chance of using the same prop. |

* J.B. Good thought that it may have replaced a steam engine ? interesting that we have not seen any engines like it ? A.J Houle Motor Works could be a possible mfgr, but none of these ads have that crankcase ?? This 1905 ad the oldest I could find. 1907 ad lists a lot of different sizes ? this 1909 ad says 15 yrs experience so maybe one of the engines made even before the A.J Houle Motor works was formed ? 1906 Article of new engine Very difficult to find info on some of these old Companies ! * |
