Related see articles on Desaxe principle. I thought this was unusual and once saw a Puch 250 cc motorcycle engine with 2 parallel cylinders/pistons on one crankpin. Search finds many surprising surprising current examples. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desaxe but can't find a mention of when Desaxe first appeared. |

I have a Puch 250 twingle here in my shop, Kind of like riding a tractor cycle. Good torque not much top end performance they have a common combustion chamber also |

Ferro used the same thing, not as exaggerated, this is why they didn't recommend reversing the engine. Modern auto engines use an offset wrist pin to accomplish the same thing. Drag racers found out that by reversing the pistons you could gain horsepower. |

If memory serves, the Ferro offset was 5/8 in. |
