Hey guys, I am a new subscriber in the marine field. I have recently ventured into purchasing a one cylinder Evarts Machine Co. engine. I have not been able to find any information on the engine. The gentlemen I purchase the engine from said that it used a Cuno timer, which it does not have. I believe the engine will run if I can get some assistance in finding a timer. |

This is a real piece of Old Marine Engine History to surface for the first time !
Many years ago in a Connecticut Industrial Index I found mention of Evarts Machine Co. 14 Hicks Street in Hartford and that they made marine engines , but have never seen an ad or listing or reference of any kind ?
The Company founded about 1890 and was a viable
Machine Jobbing shop, they incorporated in 1905 and in 1909 built a three story addition to their facility, I believe that the marine engines were mfgrd starting about this time and were a small part of their automotive repair and engine rebuilding business ? It seems that 1909 to 1915 were the years that marine engines were produced ?
This engine because of the oiler probably one of the earlier ones ? Interesting that the Evarts Machine Co. is still in business, at a different address and a couple of generations later !

Is that some sort of diaphragm water pump that works off the fluctuating pressures in the base ??? |

 The Evarts made it home. Got it out in the open so you guys could see it better. I thank my long time engine buddy Bill for allowing me to purchase this engine and share, it will stay with me till the end. I'm helping him fund other engine adventures.  |
