Hi all, I have been trying to found out who made this engine?. It has a number of features that are some what unique including square lifters with rollers, The valve clearance adjusted by threading the keepers on/off the stem ect. So if you have seen anything even if single cylinder or only slightly alike Please let me know. Thanks, Nathan. |

This is my best shot at this. Got it from Grayson's book.

Hi Motorcanoe, thanks for the reply(sorry about the late responce the computer wanted a nap!). I have looked at all the Beilfuss engines that I could find but they all seem different, so far the closest that I have found is the Sintz family of opposed engines but even they still have a couple small differences. The timer is almost identical the one Guy l. Sintz patented in 1906 (no 906,729)but i still can't match the square pushrods or the intake manifold, in some of the ads they mention making replacement opposed engines for some of the early single cylinder cars so perhaps it is one of those?. So far i can't find photos of any of the Sintz smaller opposed engines just old ads, are there any of them around?. Thanks, Nathan. |
