I now have 2 Record engines, thanks to ebay.

Only thing missing is the kick start lever.
It is as close to original from manufacture.
These engines were made in the late 40's and 50's
in Brighton Victoria.

I got it running today.

I reckon the magnetos are set up to fire quite retarded when starting with the kick starter - otherwise the kick starter could take on a whole new meaning if it backfired
It's a nice package and congrats on getting it to turn gasoline into joyful noise ( and a bit of smoke)
I swear there's nothing like getting an old engine to run the first time after it's been out in the wild and is now restored.

Hi Klanger,

Congratulations:-) I was going to bid on this one as it's very complete but already have two. One mostly complete and the other hopelessly cracked.

Did you get it started? If not I think the piston may be in backwards based on the symptoms the seller mentioned to me in his efforts to start it.

Cheers,

Mark S.

Hi Mark, thanks for not bidding :-)
Yes I got it running, swapped the carby over from my other engine.

Now to sort out the carby that came with it.

Engine nearly finished, trial fitting parts.

Now to make a craddle to finish it of.
