In my hometown of Evansville, Indiana there was a small machine shop that built marine engine. The Evansville Gas Engine Works built engines in the first quarter of the 1900's. We own a 3 HP "Boy Scout Engine made my the Evansville Gas Engine Works and it runs real well. The piston, rod, and valves are Ford Model T parts. They are 4 cycle engines and were offered with a "Joe's" reverse gear if desired.I did find a sales flyer for the Boy Scout engine that is attached as well as some photos of our engine. The flyer states that it is so easy to operate that any young boy can operate and adjust for wear. I've been able to locate 4 or 5 other engines. Does anybody else know anything about the company or know where any engines are located. Keith www.herculesengines.com

Can't offer any info Keith, but that's a real nice complete engine. I like the four srokes, not as common but they have a lot of character. I'm sure it's special to have a local engine. |
