As you can see, its is a four stroke. It has a glass oiler feeding the cylinder and main bearings. The mains have splash rings. Without looking i would say it has a 4 to 5 inch cylinder. The mounts for the crank and the base are all brass. The flywheel looks like a fan with its fins. The carby clamp that holds it in, has broken and has been agriculturaly mended. The maggy is missing but the rest seems to be there. Any help would be appriciated, its got me stumped. |

The only entry for Swift in Max Homfeld's listing of early engine manufacturers is #654 Swift Mot.Car of Canada, Chatham, ON. Source is the 1912 Loyd's Register of Yachts. Have no idea if this is anyway related to this engine. |

Nick You mention the Maggy is missing, Your probably in Austaiia if so, then our U.S and canadian eng makers lists wont help much. Does any one have an engine mfgrs listing in different countries or continents ?? It's hard sometimes to remember that this cyber communication goes around the world. |

There is a small list of Australian mfgs here, but Swift doesn't show up. I'm sure some of our Australian friends have a more complete list... |

In Max's listing there are quite a few other engines that cover different countries. He was only able to recover that Loyds 1912 register perhaps our UK friends might be able to turn up more of the Loyds listings. |
