I recently purchased a small single cyl. marine engine, the bore is 3 3/8, it looks like the one on page 24 of Wendel's American Gasoline Engine book. It has a Schebler carb, and the timing is around the crank, on a lever. Does anyone know the HP of this little engine and what the original color was. Also the serial number is 2819, can someone date this engine? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. |

I guess you're looking at the American, they were similar to Caille, Detroit, and Termat and Monihan. I would think the bore would put it in the two hp range. I don't have any way to date it but the number sounds fairly low, a guess would be the early to mid teens. |
