Does anyone know of a good substitute for Tufnol water lubricated bearing material? I found a supply of Tufnol in the form of tubing designed for this purpose but it's a very loose fit on my new 7/8 inch shaft. I thought of using Delrin as it's easy to get, and machine, but I've been told it swells in water. Any ideas?

My old twin screw bridge decker had bronze tailshafts and bronze bearings in the a brackets. Seawater was the only lubricant down there and is all went well for 30 years at a time by all accounts.

Some of the graphite-filled polyimides will work quite well. I bekieve MSC carries this material. It was designed for so-called oilless bearings.
