Interesting....last week i was involved in a conversation explaining the conection between globe and union engines of sanfransisco california. aparintly union sold a liscence agreement with the east coast firm to manufacture and sell the union copy....there are 2 engines that i know of one in california and one in oregon , was looking at one last saturday......try a keyword search on this discussion board and there are 2 good shots of a union bob..... |

I think Bill Santos's engine is actually a Standard not a Union... Here's a photo of my Union http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/fattywagonman/1913union.jpg |

Thanks! Yes, it's on my trailer. I think this is pre 1895 because Philadelphia Iron Works moved to Eddystone/Chester PA in 1895. The tag on this one says Philly, not Eddystone like the later models. Last Pat'n date is 1893 on the tag for what that's worth... Many small differences between this one and some of the Union/Frisco/Standards that I see. The igniter isn't a flat bar trip, intake valve is in the top, etc. Running the vaporizer makes it easy to understand why Mr Schebler's Model D revolutionized the engine carburetor. |
