A marine engine that the manufacturer also sold as a stationary simply by adding the base, a governor, and a flywheel?

This is a postcard on eBay - 220712674729

This looks like another basic engine that could be readily converted at the factory into a marine engine or stationary engine as needed.

Can anyone put a name to it?

The photos are poor. The photographer may be the problem rather than the new Pentax. Guess I had better read the manual!

this appears to be a Cushman binder engine. It has an intake manifold that is different from mine and also using a different carburetor. Mine is a engine used on grain binders and such and the exhaust is different also, but the water pump and drive for it is the same.

It's a Fairfield, made in Fairfield Iowa circa 1920; it is in Wendells BYB.. 4.5 HP. Designed as an "all-fuel" engine to burn gas or kero. Holley model K carby. I have a scanned sales brochure if interested.

Paul and Robert,
Thanks for the responses. I looked Fairfield up in the BYB and sure enough, there it is. The resemblance to features of the Cushman was also noted in the BYB. Paul, thanks for the URL for the scanned brochure.

It is a neat engine but now that I know it has no marine connections I won't chase it.
