Here are some pictures of a twin that is a little different. Have you seen any other St.L engines with this timer/pump arrangement?

The rotary timer is at the front (flywheel) end of the engine with a conventional St.L pump at the rear. The timer gears are completely enclosed, with the crank gear tight against the throw inside the crankcase.

Lots of missing parts, but interesting.

I have looked at every St Lawrence eng photo that is in my files, catalogs etc and have not seen another timer gear like the #1182 ?
From the registry of St Lawrence Engines it dates from late teens, last registered owner Phil Gemeinhardt, if this has changed let me know.

Yes Richard, it is now in our shed. Maybe Phil will chime in here, but I don't think that he was ever the owner of this engine. The story the we got from another collector was that the engine was found in a scrap yard. Maybe a number mix-up?

Hi Blair and Richard, I have gone and doubled checked all my St L. serial numbers and the closest I have to the Goss's engine is #1118 - it is only 64 units older then their engine but it has a completely different set up with shielded bevel gears. I did post a picture of this engine way back on Nov 26, 2008 (back when I was still a "visitor" to the site) Perhaps moderator Andrew could re-post it here for an easier comparison of the 2 engines?

Thanks Phil. I didn't know whether we would hear from you until spring. How much snow did you get in the last 4 days?
