The current issue of WoodenBoat magazine has an article by Stan Grayson on the history of the Sintz engine and the derivative companies he founded. It is very much worth reading and at the end he gives credit to Richard Day, Richard Durgee and Scott Peters for their contributions to his research in writing the article. And - following that is an article on the history of the Truscott boat company that is also very much worth reading. Enjoy |

Is the Sintz engine that was "discovered" in New Zealand through this site mentioned in the article? |

Hello All, A couple of posts have asked about whether the Sintz in New Zealand is mentioned in the WB article. The answer is "no." I did write a sidebar discussing all Sintz engines known to me (There are 5 but two are in horseless carriages, 1 has gone missing, and other is the New Zealand engine.) however there wasn't room in the magazine to publish the sidebar. The engine down under is a later model, probably 1896 - 1898, and is incomplete. |

Robert, What are you calling the current issue? Went to newstand to buy a copy but the February issue did not have those articles. We're near the end of the Pony Express line up here. Would it be the March issue? |
