Another good idea that wasn't I suspect that they found out rather quickly that if half of it was fouled the other half was too. |

Actually the idea was for costly battery savings. You would start the engine on the battery powered high tension buzz coil and then switch over to the magnet powered high tension magneto. Maybe couldn't start on mag because of the slow engine speed when turning by hand. Of course this was overcome on tractors by adding an "impulse" which allows the mag to, in an instant, act quickly at the right time thus delivering a hot spark. VERY cool advert!
