Bore x Stroke = 4- 1/4" x 4", Revs 850, Prop 15"
I have recently bought a Blaxland Greyhound 6 \ 8HP from Boyd Guard in NZ.
brochure
It had served it's time in fresh water, on the snow-fed, land-locked lake of Wakatipu, Queenstown, New Zealand.
Queenstown
On the way home with the crated engine in tow, we decided to detour past the address of its birth; the factory in Erskineville NSW AU,
shopfront
now very built-up residential inner-city, alongside the railway.
Turning into Clara St The trailer barely cleared the parked cars either side. Unfortunately now at No. 26, there stands a block of flats, but we took a pic anyway!
Erskinville
I wouldn't mind printing some letters to the surrounding houses asking for possibility of historic pics including the Chapman & Sherack PTY LTD shopfront!?
The shipping/crating, & mainly the customs broker, cost more than the engine, but am still Glad to have it!
crate. trolley
crating. small
om beds in shed
*This Engine would have left from Sydney in the 1940's probably as a bulk Blaxland Chapman export,, only to return to Sydney via port Botany in 2008! That's a lot of sea miles! Presently I am preparing the engine to be run in the shed, but ultimately would like it in a boat.
painting
I only know of one other Greyhound in a boat, at Dangar Island NSW. I will be going to visit the owner; Wendy soon, and to go for a putt!

Interestingly; this matching gearbox and engine [the gearbox input slides-onto the keyed- crankshaft] are of different vintages; The engine is Blaxland Chapman Rae of i believe post-1945? /// and the gearbox; a Chapman & Sherack of pre-1054?.!
Note; a Mr Sherack recently apperaed here at this site too!

Greg, it is good to see a eng and matching g/box that has no salt water damage considering the miles that it has done on the sea.
