Yes you can you need to remove the upper transfer port cover and drill and tap 1/8 in pipe thread in the middle of it. Then make a plate out of 1/4 thick aluminum that has the same bolt pattern as the back of the standard OMC fuel pump. (part number below) Drill and tap the center of the adaptor plate 1/8 pipe and attach to the transfer port cover with a 1/8 pipe close nipple. The outlet of the pump goes to the carb, the inlet to your new single hose connection mounted where the old 2 line connection went. Block the hose nipple on the reed plate that went to the pressure hose for your old tank with a piece of hose with a screw in it or you should be able to get a cap the correct size at your local auto parts store. The pump is available here on Marine Engine dot com http://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1972&hp=6&mode l=6RL72&manufacturer=Johnson§ion=Fuel+Pump FUEL PUMP&SCREW AY 0388685 Note you may have someone tell you to just get the OMC part to mount a fuel pump on the 7 1/2. That part is NOT available as OMC never made the 7 1/2 in your style with a fuel pump and single line tank Hope this helps Ernie |
