I have recently found a very small and early Barber Bros. canoe engine. It has been abused, and I would like to find a doner engine. The block is perfect, however the rod has been lost. Any thoughts? I will try to post pics soon.

The connecting rod can be fabricated, lots of options. It could be cut out of aluminum, the bearing turned from bronze stock, split and clamped inside the aluminum. Welded steel will work fine, could be bolted to a brass block like a steam engine.

Bruce, I will post on friday eve. when I go to the shop. The block I have is basically a miniaturized Lathrop like those in the teens/twentis. It is cast iron. What does yours look like?
