A friend recently acquired a 3 cylinder Frisbie marine engine. Previous owner said it ran on a boat in the Connecicut River and was removed by SteamTown in Vermont(?) in the sixties & replaced with a steam engine. It looks very complete. There is a name tag with serial number but the Manzel mechanical lubricator needs to be removed to read it. He'd like to restore it & is looking for a date, manual and any other information.

Bob, I'll ask him to take some more photos. Could you post one of the starting bar that I don't think he has? |

Atwater Kent Type H timer. Easthope Bros. had the agency for Frisbee from around 1912-14 until it was given to Lipsett around 1920-24. This is based on the interview with Peck Easthope in Raincoast Chronicles No5. He comments that the engines were prone to overheating and the "valves were in cages" which he felt was a disadvantage. But then of course he was still sore about loosing the agency perhaps! |
