Thanks for the post Richard. Never realized Watkins made so many different styles of marine engines. Seems like they were never content with a design. I have only seen the 1909 and 1911 styles. I have a Watkins horizontal stationary engine which I think predates the marine engines.
The stationary engines are quite rare. Do you have any idea as to when they may have gone from one to the other?

Thats a very exceptional and unique looking engine !
I have searched through all my Watkins Marine information and there is no reference to their stationary engines, probably an early catalog would list both ? I have several notes refering to Watkins engines in the late 1890's but never distinguishing which engines ?? earliest reference to Marine engs so far is 1902, The cylinder heads on these engs look similar to the stationary ??
I recall some time back there was an article in Gas Engine Magazine on a Watkins Stationary engine mfgrd about 1900.
Not that it helps with this discussion But The original Company name " Frank M. Watkins Mfg Co." was changed in late 1908 to "The Watkins Motor Co.". helps date the marine engs ?
