I trust that I speak for most Americans in extending my sincere condolences to all Austrailians over the deaths of so many of their citizens on Monday. We have always had close ties with our Aussie friends and now we, very unfortunately, have a common disaster to further strengthen those ties.

This barbaric act, like 9/11, only serves to bolster our convictions about preserving our ideals and our values. It most certainly does not in any way diminish them.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.. this act has torn many Aussie hearts wide open - most of us seem to know of someone lost or dead in Bali.

What gets right up my nose though is the fact that travel warnings wern't issued for fear of loosing tourist dollars....And then of course those smart enough to realise that Indonesia is a military dictatorship stay away anyway.
The whole thing sickens me to the core & brings back very unpleasant memories of Vietnam.

I can only add my thoughts to Trevors . Living in Perth which is only 3 hrs flight from Bali .it is closer than Sydney. Yes we all know of someone who has been injured ,killed or is still missing .
There is a great anger now ,we have felt isolated from terroist violence ........but that has ceased !

Let me and my wife Barbara add our thoughts to others. How decent, respsonable, peace loving people are going to be able to curb this slaughter of innocent people is beyond our understanding. Much of this is based on religious fanaticism of the most violent order. In this country we have people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson demanding that the Palastinians be driven out of ISREAL and using the Bible as the basis of their nonsense. Falwell calling Islam an "EVIL" religion. Bush calling for a "Crusade". His use of the word went rocketing around the globe as proof that the US was against all Islam. All this does is incite more violent attacks against all of us. Bush with his campaign to get rid of SH has not persuaded most of the non English speaking free world to support him. There is no easy end in sight for any of this madness but we must persuade our Christian neighbors that mixing religion and politics is a devils brew that throughout history has only resulted in the slaughter of millions and never has solved the problem. I have had my say and again to our Aussie friends we deeply sympathize.

I Know several young people from Maroubra in NSW (where I was a teacher for 10 years) who were killed and/or injured and it is indeed a terrible, terrible waste of young life, which is the most precious gift we have been given .

My condolences to all who are suffering through this heartless godless act and my thanks for the kind thoughts of all.
