The following sets of pictures were taken this past weekend. The old fellow who owns the boat is at the stage in life that he can no longer care for it and will likely be selling it, but not just yet. |

Some pictures of the engine compartmnet, staring at the business end . I think you can see the prop OK in the first picture. The electric start was added about 8 years ago when he just couldn't swing the engine over, because it became very awkward ( you had to remove the seats etc etc and then put them back once it started. The electric starter spins the engine faster than running speed,so you have to wait to see if it slows to a stop or to a run. He apparently never had to row his way home - she always brought him back OK.

Here is the last set of pictures . I think I figured out how to organize the pictures vertically - list the pctures one per line :-} The boat was found in the proverbial barn in 1979 near Goderich Ontario and was restored the following year. I took a spin in it, and apparently it rode much better with me as ballast.

Nice boat and great photos. Did you get the serial number of the engine by chance. |

Richard - the serial number is 2256326. And what's even more interesting, is, that you sent this fellow a copy of the manual for the engine in the early or mid 1980's. All of the documentation and your letter is still with the boat. miro |

The hull was not in bad shape when he got it and he has maintained it very well. He was a retired Royal Canadian Navy Officer and kept a log book for everything he did with the boat right up to his last ride. Sad news, though, I heard that he has just passed away. I expect that his estate will now sell the boat. |
