I am working in a museum in Iceland and we are looking for an old engine to fit in an old boat we are rebuilding. There was an 45 hp. June Munktell machine in the beginning and we are looking for an simular engine. Can anyone help me? |

Can you describe the engine further? How many cylinders was it? What rpm? What weight?
I assume you are looking for an engine of similar vintage to the original, 1938...?
You could check our classifieds also and post a wanted ad. There is a
39Hp Hundestead single cylinder marine diesel
listed... but I don't think it is that vintage... there may be others... |

Munktell was the company that merged with Bolinders in the 1950's, about 1953 IIRC. The engine side was based in Eskilstuna in Sweden, and there is a lot of historical stuff on various websites.
Bolinder-Munktell made engines (Bolinder) and Tractors (Munktell) and later became the 'BM' in Volvo-BM when the Volvo group took them over.
Volvo later produced a range of small inboard diesels called the 'Baby Bolinders' but they were much more modern and evertually rverted to the Volvo name.
I don't believe that Munktell as a company made any marine engines, but would be happy to be proven wrong.
