I just came across a photo of a Palmer Bros. 17 foot launch that is located at Waterloo Village museum in Stanhope, New Jersey. The launch was repowered with a Palmer YT engine around 1925. The website for Waterloo Vilage is located here but there doesn't appear to be any info about the boat on the website.

Lines for a 17 foot Palmer launch were taken off of an original boat by Robert Baker. While Mr. Baker passed on many years ago, the lines are still available from his wife. More info is available from R.H. Baker Boat Works. BTW, I have no affiliation with Baker Boat Works. I am just a satisfied customer passing along info that may be of interest to others. |

That boat is the "Cathy H". The Palmer YT engine is serial number 2214926 (I don't know if you have that one on your list or not Dick)... I went to see the boat some years ago and took a number of photos. It was on display in the dining area. The musuem curator contacted me sometime last year looking for info on the boat and I sent him the YT Manual, the Palmer Handbook, Stan Grayson's book, and some reprints of early Palmer catalogs that showed the launches. |

Andrew I was working with one of the curators and he suddenly abandoned the project and left so don't know anymore than what you have provided. Glad to get the serial No. Would like to know what the hull number is but he left and I was not able to get that detail. Thanks for putting Bill Burtons L-4 on the page. That engine is going to help the three currently known L or M engine owners restore their engines. What a find. |

Andrew, You have additional photos of the launch at Waterloo Village? Any possibility that you could post them on this thread? Do you have any notes on the construction details (frame spacing, etc.) or scantlings (dimensions of frames, plank thickness, etc.)? |

The pictures that I have are not very good. The boat was in a dark dining area with backlighting from a large window near the boat. Do the plans refered to above contain any construction details? Or are they just a lines plan? I don't have construction details, but there are numerous examples of those Palmer Launches around.

Thanks for the photos. Mrs. Baker is selling the lines and offsets only. Bob Baker drew the lines. Stephen C. Baker picked up the offsets from the lines drawing. I asked Anne Baker at the time that I purchased the lines if there are notes that her husband might have taken when he took off the lines of the boat and she refered me to Mystic. I haven't followed up with Mystic yet on this. I am considering building a replica of one of these launches for a Palmer Model B that I am working on but construction of the boat will likely not start for a year or more. Probably the best thing to do will be to arrange to visit one of the existing boats at that time and gather the information that I need myself. |

We have a 1962 Palmer PW27 motor that we will be restoring. We would like to know what type of hull this motor would have gone into and links to any info we can get our hands on - hull plans, or ideas on hulls to purchase. Thanks! |

I have been searching for weeks for a Palmer launch somewhere near New Jersey so that I could go see it. I have been unable to contact anyone at the Waterloo Museum because it appears to be closed. Does anyone know of any Palmer Launches similar to the one pictured in this thread? I am ordering plans but would like to see one in the flesh so I can get a few details fixed in my mind before I start building. Any help would be appreciated. |
