The advert shown came from a 1918 magazine (I do not know which one). I can't help but think that the Walter E Dunn Co. was the same one originally of Ogdensburg, NY. I believe the Dunn inboard ads stop around the 1916-17 time frame??
Maybe Walter started another company or sold the
company with his name and they moved to Mich??
Anyone know more?

I think your assumption is correct that W.E. Dunn
did not design this engine but rather bought some kind of license.
I made an error in the picture posting: The date on the picture was 1916 and another smaller one was 1917.Wish I had a connection with a library or historical society in Ogdensburg to get a look at their city directories for those years.
