My father just aquired an old engine - a 1 cylinder, with a belt drive. He was told that it was a boat motor. This makes sense since it has a fish cast into the top of the head! I don't have any pics, but does the fish ring any bells? It is about a 5 in bore. Thanks, Irv |

Hi Everyone. Last month I purchased my first boat, had to have something that had a little room to walk around a little have a bad back and have had three failed back fussion surgeries so can't sit in one place for long long times, have to move around a little. Well, anyway I purchased a 24ft pontoon, that it and motor are a "72" model. The motor is a 65hp Evinrude, with know power trim of course. But anyway I have just bought the muffs that you put on the lower part of the lower unit to the moter and fasten a water hose and turn water on to start it. Well, can't seem to find pea hole. Called previous owner he says it comes out around the propeller. Question have any of you heard of one puting water out there???? Also I heard through a guy that I met at a local Boat Marine Shop, where he sells thouse expensive Tracker boats, anyway he was telling me that on his "78" model Evinrude 115hp that his shoots out water through the exhaust two holes, so that is what he and I was looking for it to come out on mine. And I guess he hadn't heard of it coming out around the propeller, but I thank I do remember seeing it coming out around it. Have notices that it is kinda vented like around that houseing in front around where the propeller is.One last Question if I may does anyone or has anyone modified very many or any homemade trailer, neighbor thanks that my trailer to pontoon is made from an old tabacco hauler trailer. Well it has double axles that have 15inch wheels and tires that I thank is hurting me causeing it to sit to high and making me have to back even farther into water to try to get boat unloaded. But also have had to replace runners used 2"x4"x16'ft treated board, carpeted with blue outdoor carpet. But due to the with of the tanks on pontoon it does just fit on trailer. But is fitting very tight. Does anyone have any suggesting on anyway to make it fit less tight so boat would go on and off trailer a little easier???? Thank You very much for alowing me to type this long message, and if any one could help I would really really appreciate it. Bye David Duffer. |

Dave, This site is really for pre-1940 style inboard engines, not outboards. You should post that question on the discussion board at our affiliated site, MarineEngine.com. That board is the same format as this, but is for newer motors such as yours. You could copy and paste the text so you don't have to retype it. Thanks. |
