Thanks for the response to my last question. I also have a blow-by problem. Have read a past conversation where you reccomended checking and cleaning the PCV line. Todays question is what is the point gap setting for the Palmer P-60. I have a 30' Islander with this engine, except for the blowby she runs great. Need this info for future referance. thanks. Bob |

Bob, you have a PCV system on your P-60 you just don't know where to look for it. On the face of the backfire trap on the carburetor you should find a slotted tube with a hose connection to the forward portion of the valve cover plate behind the carburetor. Air flow over the slotted tube creates a vacuum in the crankcase and exhausts the crankcase fumes down the exhaust pipe. The air inlet for the crankcase is the screen in the oil fill cap. Make sure the slotted tube is oriented towards the backfire trap and the connecting tube is not all gunked up. While you are at it check your cylinder head air bleed line is clear so you don't crack a head or do other serious damage because it got plugged up with gunk and nobody bothered to check it at the annual service check. |
