Greetings: I have a U-2 formerly owned by John Farrar in Maine. It has no serial number and has been discussed in this forum by Dick Day. It is generally considered to be the earliest known U-2 and possibly a prototype. I'm in process of stripping, the first coat is a brick red primer, or bottom paint, or red lead. The second and final coat is bright red. No other colors have been found. I know red is a Lathrop color. Is it possible this engine was distributed without paint? Possible it was painted red by Palmer? Finally, does anyone have a source for high crown bolts and attendant nuts? Thank you, Chris |
