Running fine for the last few trips. Then the engine shut down. No sputtering, just shut down. Added gas, nothing. Fuel pump not clicking, changed it. Now it's getting fuel but won't turn over. The lower unit jumps and the engine sounds like its bound up. This is a well cared for Volvo penta I/O aquamatic 100. It's on a 59 Thomson 17 ft. wooden boat. God bless anyone who can help!! |

Since it is a relatively modern engine that probably has some electronics associated with the ignition system, that's where I would begin the search. Can you get at the drive pulley that drives the alternator? If yes, then see if the engine can turn over by hand ( plus wrench) . If the engine won't turn, then you might have suffered a blown head gasket and coolant has gotten into one of the cylinders and locked it up. Was there ay indication how warm / hot the engine got before it shut down? |

The engine is fairly old, early sixths I think. According to the gauge, motor was not over heating. I'm making sure the battery is fully charged. Turns by hand without to much effort. |

I recently had a suzuki truck engine that locked up due to a broken starter. Removed the starter and found the nose cone was broken. Might want to check there. Jim |
