hi there, i need to replace the oil filter on my m27 from 1947 . i ordered a new one according to the original engine manual but its too wide. Now if i look closely, the filter on the engine is slightly different than the one in the manual.

Does anyone have any clue which model it could be?

thanks

arno

Most marine engine manufacturers used automotive parts where they could, to keep costs down.

Since a marine application is nowhere near as "dirty" as a land based application, you can probably substitute an automotive or stationary engine equivalent.

Talk to an experienced auto parts guy and he'll likely find one for you.

Gently clean the old one and look for a part number on it. DO NOT wipe it as you will wipe off the number. Try spray carb cleaner.
