Recently I had the chance to see a couple of propellers - in effect the business end of a marine engine. The big one is the prop that drives the Wanda III a 94 ft steam launch ( has a triple compund minesweeper engine) - sort of neat to see the boat up on the dock. I understand that the prop is a 36 in dia and a 54 in pitch.
( and YES, the ice is still about 2 ft thick - picture was taken April 9/04))
The second prop is the one that is used for the 2 cylinder copper jacket engined DisPro's. I think you shold be able to see the curve of the edge of he blade in the second picture.

I have a Michigan 3 blade prop in brass that has the numbers K 33 stamped on it, can anyone tell me anything about it. I am not a collector. thanks Jerry Please e-mail me at [email protected] |

Michigan Wheel Corp has been making boat propellers since 1903 !

I think the historical records for Michigan Wheel Company are at the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven, MI. They have some folks working as their library staff that might be of some assistance if the collection has been cataloged or inventoried. Good luck. |
