Hi, I am trying to start a 1976 Volvo Penta MD6A that has been sitting for five years. The fuel was bad and the fuel filter was full of spoiled fuel. I replaced the fuel filter. I filled it with fuel and some “gumout” which is the equivalent to sea foam. I also emptied the rest of the can of gumout in the fuel can containing fresh fuel and that I am using as a tank until I clean the onboard tank. I primed the fuel pump to the point that it looks like the excess fuel was flowing back in the onboard tank (overflow) from the injection pump. I disconnected the injectors and ran the engine on low compression and let fuel come out of the injectors. It looked like clean fuel to me but there seemed to be a good flow out of the injectors. I tried to start the engine but no luck. I let more fuel run through the injectors to clean the lines but nothing. Any idea as to what the issue could be? Thanks for the help. |
